Climate and Clothing…
- In general the weather in Benadalid can be described as similar to the Costa de Sol, a couple of degrees higher during the day and a couple of degrees cooler at night. Although inland, it doesn’t suffer from the extreme summer heat found in places such as Seville and has more rainfall than other more arid areas of southern Spain, so looks and feels a bit ‘lusher’. Data on sunny days, temperatures, rainfall etc, can be found by clicking here.
- Winter: As with most of Southern Spain, many days will see warm and pleasant winter sun (high teens or low twenties Celsius) but be prepared for rain which all the locals are crossing their fingers for. On overcast or rainy days temperatures tend to hover around the 10-15 degree region, occasionally dipping below. Be prepared for both. It has been known to snow in Benadalid, but this is an exceptionally rare occurrence!
- Spring through to early summer sees an increase in temperatures during the day, from the low- to the high-twenties. It’s T-shirt weather when the sun shines and the morning warms up, but light jumpers and raincoats on overcast and rainy days and morning/evening when outside. When the rain falls, it falls! Nights tend to be cool.
- High summer, July and August, sees hot days and hot nights, regularly in the low to mid-thirties, sometimes higher.
- Autumn is a really pleasant time in the region. In September the high summer temperatures have receded and it is cooler at night. Jumpers will be needed for evenings and cooler days, and as October moves towards November, the chance of rain increases.
- In all seasons bring sturdy walking shoes for any walks in surrounding hills. A popular hiking area, many walks have sections of dirt roads in good conditions, but many other paths or old mule tracks have stony and uneven ground.
